Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

Our guide and his help were great and very knowledgeable. We had a good time. If I had it to do over again we would have chose the dolphin and manatee tour during the day. This was not a day away’s issue. It was just a full moon so a lot of light and hard to see th bioluminessance. But we did get to see a little and it was really cool. It was windy and choppy so a little scary on the water in the dark. I was a little disappointed we had to do the double kayaks. I said on the reservation we wanted singles. But I get that is just the ones they had for this tour. It made it harder to control and the kayaks were uncomfortable. But again. Our guides were great!

Devon was our amazing tour guide! He explained how it all works and the animals we might see! We saw 3 baby owls while we were watching the sunset before we headed out. Comb jellies, lots of herons, raccoons, fish and jumping shrimp! It was a night to remember for sure! Definitely recommend!
