Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

A fantastic trip for my husband and me! I booked a private tour for just the two of us so we could view the bioluminescent comb jellies. Our guide Brian was an obvious veteran and knew plenty of facts about the local wildlife and areas. He patiently answered our many questions and always seemed smooth and polished in his answers. We were extremely lucky on our trip in viewing wildlife that even Brian didn’t see regularly. We met Nick the dolphin and his broski along with ospreys, manatees, alligators, black vultures, horseshoe crabs, grebes, spoonbills, two types of pelican, gulls, cormorants, and a flock of the elusive magnificent frigate birds. The weather was gorgeous, the sunset even more so, and Brian was able to catch a few comb jellies and let us hold them. Magical, doable, and everything we’d hoped for and more. We would ask for Brian by name if we ever do this again!

Yesterday we were privileged to have this special adventure with Brian and Chad. Our 7-year-old girl was the youngest. The rest of the group, like us, were adults. Both Brian and Chad were very knowledgeable and friendly. I never kayaked at night and I have never seen a biloluminscent Jellyfish, neither held one. What a magical moment it was for our daughter and us to see and even touch these beautiful Jellyfish. There were these special moments under the starry sky where we stopped paddling and could hear even dolphins nearby blowing air through their blowhole - that was in a complete darkness. Thank you so much Brian and Chad for an unforgettable night!

We did the night Comb Jelly tour. It was great to do something different. Jayden, Danielle and Brittany were our guides. They were AWESOME and made this a fun trip. They took time to let us enjoy and are very good at what they do! It was cool to see the Comb Jelly and they scooped them up for us to hold. Everything was taken care of, just bring a towel. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this trip and this company.
