Comb Jelly Bioluminescence Kayak Tour

Overview
In the cooler Florida months, bioluminescent Comb Jellies congregate in the protected waters of the Indian River Lagoon. Living in the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Comb Jellies are clear, glob-like creatures that, despite their name, do not sting! So as you paddle the calm waters laced with mangroves and palm trees, you can catch and hold these gentle glowing creatures. They're right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for new and unique experiences.

In addition to the stars, the myriad of protected wildlife around you, and the Comb Jelly’s bioluminescence, their “ribs” are lined with cilia that they use to propel themselves, so when you cast a flashlight on them just right, they’ll also refract a dynamic rainbow-y light show! They’re right at your fingertips while having a safe, awe-inspiring kayak adventure with those who share your enthusiasm for unique experiences.

I took my teenage daughter (14) and we had a blast. We took the recommendation of the baby oil and repellent and did pretty good. My daughter had a great time netting the comb jelly and the clear kayak showed off the sparkles like stars. We were fortunate to see a dolphin feeding. Would do it again.

Great experience and a special memory! The night and the bioluminescence was Beautiful! This was easy to reserve and communication was thorough and informative. We felt prepared on arrival. The clear kayaks for this tour are tandem, we did not expect that, but it did make it easier to stay within our small group. Our guide, Sam, was knowledgable and friendly. We are Florida residence and will do this again with visitors. We recommend staying close to the guide so you don't miss any of the detailed information they share. Great way to see real Florida.

Brandy and Harrison were awesome tour guides! They made sure the members of our large group were accounted for at all times. A myriad manatee greeted us at the beginning of our nightfall tour. Brandy obviously loves her job; her spiels during our many stops to rest and regroup revealed her extensive knowledge of biology, ecology, and other subjects of interest. She made sure that all of us were able to see the specimens of comb jelly that we collected in nets. We were fortunate to have optimum conditions for viewing the bioluminescence via the clear-bottom kayaks and from the jumping mullets. Everyone should take this tour at least once!
