This tour is totally customizable – you choose the length of the tour, what time you want to be picked up, and what you want to see.

I love San Francisco and have spent 20 years studying and exploring the city. I’ll work with you to plan your tour so you can see the famous sites and the hidden gems other tours can't go to or don't know about. I’ve designed this to be the type of tour I would take if I visited San Francisco, but where you go is up to you. I make suggestions along the way, but how long you spend at any site is up to you. You're never rushed, and never have to wait for other people. It's all about you!

Plus, it's fun! In the convertible MINI Cooper, you see everything up close and personal as we drive along.

What To Expect

Coit Tower

See the murals and views the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. How much time you spend is up to you.

Painted Ladies

Call it Postcard Row, the Painted Ladies, or the Full House houses, everyone loves seeing this site in person. And if you want to get out and take a picture, you can. As with all locations, if you want to get out is up to you.

Presidio of San Francisco

Drive through this former Army base turned national park. Stop and see the Yoda statue if you want.

North Beach

Learn the history and culture of this neighborhood that is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Lombard Street

If the time is right and there isn't too much traffic (usually weekend and holiday afternoons) we drive down the famous crooked st. If we can't drive down, we can at least drive by, and get out for photos if you want to.

Chinatown

Drive through this neighborhood, and learn about its history and culture. As I talk about the architecture, you can look up an see it as we drive through in the convertible MINI Cooper.

Haight-Ashbury

Drive down the street made famous in the 1960's, and learn why the music and culture made resonated around the world.

Golden Gate Park

Drive through the park, see the museums and the Japanese Tea garden. Guests enjoy driving through and learning the history of this urban garden created on top of 1,017 acres of sand. If open, there is an opportunity to go into the observation tower of the DeYoung museum.

Twin Peaks

Experience a spectacular view of the entire city, the Bay, and if the weather is clear, bridges as far south as Silicon Valley and up near the wine country.

16 Avenue Tiled Steps

The 16th Ave Tiled steps are only part of what you can see. I can show you a lesser known but equally as impressive tiled staircase, and what these staircases looked like before they were transformed into this urban art piece.

Mission District

See Mission Dolores, the Mission Murals, and location of what may be the best burritos in city.

When I wanted to book a private, ,custom tour, I scoured the lists of tour operators and Reed's tour, It is really best to reach out to Reed directly at 4155295404 or his website at smallcarbigtimetours. He gets back promptly and is so easy and fun! VERY FUN! My employees gushed about it and I was very much the hero. Reed knows everyone, is extremely engaging and entertaining. It is like taking my dad's $.25 tour in every city in which we lived. That sounds like an inside reference and it IS! Reed loves this city and just is a wealth of knowledge of history and all things San Francisco. He is an activist in keeping San Francisco relevant and real. I cannot recommend more highly!

Reed gave us an excellent tour of San Francisco! We are so glad we booked this tour. He was a wealth of information, willing and able to answer any questions we had about sights we were seeing. The 3-4 hours absolutely flew by, and we really felt like we made a new friend in the process. My wife and I booked a 2 hour tour direct with Reed on his website smallcarbigtimetours and after a very detailed reply we were looking forward to our adventure round San Francisco. Reed picked us up promptly at our hotel at the arranged time with the soft top down on a glorious sunny Californian morning. We set off on one of the most informative tours we have had anywhere on our holidays. We would not have seen or learnt as much in 2 weeks on our own as we did with Reed and his great narration in 2 hours!! Even after the tour had finished Reed was on hand to contact direct on 4155295404 for any other questions or queries whilst we were in town which was much appreciated.
