This tour is totally customizable – you choose the length of the tour, what time you want to be picked up, and what you want to see.

I love San Francisco and have spent 20 years studying and exploring the city. I’ll work with you to plan your tour so you can see the famous sites and the hidden gems other tours can't go to or don't know about. I’ve designed this to be the type of tour I would take if I visited San Francisco, but where you go is up to you. I make suggestions along the way, but how long you spend at any site is up to you. You're never rushed, and never have to wait for other people. It's all about you!

Plus, it's fun! In the convertible MINI Cooper, you see everything up close and personal as we drive along.

What To Expect

Coit Tower

See the murals and views the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. How much time you spend is up to you.

Painted Ladies

Call it Postcard Row, the Painted Ladies, or the Full House houses, everyone loves seeing this site in person. And if you want to get out and take a picture, you can. As with all locations, if you want to get out is up to you.

Presidio of San Francisco

Drive through this former Army base turned national park. Stop and see the Yoda statue if you want.

North Beach

Learn the history and culture of this neighborhood that is a favorite of locals and visitors alike.

Lombard Street

If the time is right and there isn't too much traffic (usually weekend and holiday afternoons) we drive down the famous crooked st. If we can't drive down, we can at least drive by, and get out for photos if you want to.

Chinatown

Drive through this neighborhood, and learn about its history and culture. As I talk about the architecture, you can look up an see it as we drive through in the convertible MINI Cooper.

Haight-Ashbury

Drive down the street made famous in the 1960's, and learn why the music and culture made resonated around the world.

Golden Gate Park

Drive through the park, see the museums and the Japanese Tea garden. Guests enjoy driving through and learning the history of this urban garden created on top of 1,017 acres of sand. If open, there is an opportunity to go into the observation tower of the DeYoung museum.

Twin Peaks

Experience a spectacular view of the entire city, the Bay, and if the weather is clear, bridges as far south as Silicon Valley and up near the wine country.

16 Avenue Tiled Steps

The 16th Ave Tiled steps are only part of what you can see. I can show you a lesser known but equally as impressive tiled staircase, and what these staircases looked like before they were transformed into this urban art piece.

Mission District

See Mission Dolores, the Mission Murals, and location of what may be the best burritos in city.

Reed, our intrepid host, arrived early, and made us welcome and comfortable from the start. I’m 6’3” and my nephew is 6’2” and we fit snugly but comfortably in the Cooper. We headed out promptly and he began with stories and history that made the city even richer in texture. I had been reading the memoir of General William T. Sherman which I casually mentioned, and magically we found ourselves outside the old bank structure where he worked, discussing the old harbor margins and other details i asked about. The car was perfect for maneuvering on the-at times-narrow streets, and pulling over for impromptu expositions on fascinating details. We ended in the Mission district where we had a Mission Burrito, of course. We booked 4 hours, but he was generous with his time, and we could have easily spent the whole day. This is a must do tour in San Francisco and Reed is just superb - really enjoyable morning and fantastic to cross the Golden Gate Bridge in a convertible. My wife and I had a 4 hour private tour with Reed! It was the one of those experiences we still talk about almost 2 months later! We gave him a list of the places that we wanted to go to and we were able to see them all, including time at Muir Woods. He knew all the best photo spots and we never felt rushed. We were able to drive to areas that many of the other tours couldn’t. We were able to take pictures while driving around without worrying about the glare of a window.
