This 4.5 hour Daufuskie Island trip provides a glimpse into a fascinating chapter of Lowcountry history on the undeveloped side of the island. Learn the rich history of the Native Americans, European settlers, the cotton trade, and the Gullah culture. What To Expect

Daufuskie Island

It begins with a boat ride from Shelter Cove Marina to the back side of Daufuskie Island. The ride is an important part of the tour! Along the way we will stop for dolphins and other wildlife, plus view and discuss the sites on Daufuskie and the neighboring islands that are best seen from the water. Once on Daufuskie, you'll get on golf carts and take a tour of the historic, undeveloped side of the island. We stop at all of the significant historic sites and artisan shops of Daufuskie.

Good value for the money. Capt Pete was very knowledgeable and professional. Gave us a fun time on the water, and fun tour of the island. Lots of interesting lessons about an obscure time in US History. Suitable for school-age kids. Only disappointment was we didn't get any opportunity to meet any real Gullah people/descendants or interact with them, otherwise would have given 5-stars

Booked ahead, but by the time our plane got in, we couldn't cancel because we were not in the 24 hour cancellation window. Weather was terrible and it was an OPEN small boat! Operator should have cancelled the trip! Started raining 1/2 way to the island and nowhere to get warm until 45 minutes later. The trip back was like a wooden roller coaster ride. Our guide was good and found a shortcut back. Still 45 minutes in length! Be aware that the boat trip is an hour each way!!!

Great trip! Very informative and hands on, Captain Andy has a deep knowledge of the history and culture of the island and of the area. A must see excursion with Captain Andy if you are in the area.
