Definitely wanted to swim with manatees and chose this operation because they advertise as being eco conscious/friendly. As certified advanced open water divers, we chose the first trip of the morning as we know that most non nocturnal wildlife get busy in the morning. We were briefed about manatee etiquette via video and then with only two other people besides our guide and boat captain, boated out to Three Sisters Springs where we were graced with over 10 manatees in various locations in the springs. Our guide and captain, Hannah and Vince, were both very informative, eager to teach us about the local wildlife and to share their experiences. We love to learn so their teachable moments were much appreciated. — Fortunately it was a sunny morning so we weren’t uncomfortable in the 72 degree water with wetsuits. The only con I would have is that, like most tours I’ve been on (including safaris), word is passed along to other operators as to the location of sightings and boats can congregate so crowds can happen. We were lucky enough to get there early so we were not overwhelmed with crowds but I can see where this could negatively impact the manatees with large crowds by stressing them out. By the time we left, there were several boats with many snorkelers in the water. All in all, it was a delightful experience and a perfect way to start the day of my birthday.

Thank you for choosing Crystal River Watersports for your tour, and for the wonderful review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your experience with the manatees.
You picked the right day for a tour as it has been fairly warm, so the manatees are normally not in the Three Sisters Springs. It is such a beautiful area, and the water is so clear.
We really appreciate our guests practicing passive observation because that is the best way that the manatees are not disturbed or stressed, even when there are higher numbers of people in the water. Letting the manatees decide what to do lets them choose to stay in the sanctuaries (closed to humans) or whether or not to come up to interact with humans. Thank you so much for being an educated participant and enjoying sharing the water with the manatees on their terms.
Thank you again for the lovely review, and we hope the experience made your birthday a very special one.
