We arrived in Denali hoping to take one of the park tours, but sadly these were all full, so we took this tour instead, in the evening. It was really fun, and we experienced scenery along part of the Stampede Trail along with a fascinating insight into its history from our driver Jeremy. The ancient ex-military six-wheeler was surprisingly comfortable, and the ride bumpy, but we felt quite secure. On the way back we were told the sad story of ‘Into the Wild’ which finished in this area. A walk on the tundra and campfire snacks rounded off a very worthwhile evening. Recommended!

The people we met in their team were great. We wanted to go on the Stampede Trail so as to get close to the "Into the Wild" scenes and Chris McCandless' bus. But it proved to be a goal too far. The Volvo truck we went in was technically interesting for a four-wheel back-country person like me, but the section of the Stampede Trail we went in was not really testing the vehicle to its limits, and the section of trial they have cleared to make it 'drive-able' did not go near the Sushana River or even up to the Teklanika River. The brush came right up to the side of the truck so there were no views on either side, and the noise of the engine ensured no wold life came near. If the 3-axle 6-wheel Volvo truck is put through really challenging terrain, up hill and down hill, and through serious mud holes it could be more interesting

We enjoyed our friendly drivers and the informative stories they shared. The ride itself was a bit underwhelming. I knew there’d be no guarantee of seeing wildlife or Denali, but so much of the ride was through wooded areas, that there wasn’t much scenery either. The trails were definitely in need of trimming, as well. Lots of ducking to avoid getting hit in the face. The kids liked riding the 6x6, but for the $, I wouldn’t do it again.
