My husband loves craft beer and brews his own so I thought this tour would be fun for him for his birthday. We ended up having a private tour with Cliff, who was very knowledgeable of beer-brewing and the local area. Overall, it was great time for the both of us. I was surprised by how many beer samples we tried at each brewery. Definitely check out this tour if you love beer!

There are a number of brewery-centric tours available in Asheville and we tried a couple of them during our first visit to this pretty city. Our first tour was on one of the silly buses and we did really enjoy it. This tour was a nice change of pace, keeping to the relatively small "south slope" area of Asheville. There are plenty of breweries in walking distance in this area, so it was a great way to take advantage of that. Cliff is a certified cicerone (like a wine sommelier, but for beer) and you can tell he has a passion for all things beer. He also has good knowledge of each of the breweries you'll visit and can answer any question you might have. The extra little tidbits of information about Asheville itself was a nice addition and the walk was easy. I do have only one slight negative about our experience... Although this tour doesn't have a minimum age, I would highly recommend finding a different activity if you have kids (we did not bring ours). Our particular tour had 4 kids on it and they were understandably bored. Although they weren't wild and crazy, they were in the way and tended to be a distraction. It also added to the bulk of our group. I think 8-10 people max would be perfect for this kind of tour - we had 14.

My wife and I enjoyed this tour very much. It was a lot of fun and Cliff is very knowledgeable about the brewing process and also the local breweries and Asheville history. We would definitely recommend this tour.
