The Downtown Cleveland Christmas guided walking tour explores the history of some of downtown's most famous department stores and their many Christmas traditions.

Stroll down Euclid Avenue as we discuss Cleveland Christmas delights like Higbee's Twigbee Shop, Halle Bros. Mr. Jingeling and the Sterling-Lindner Christmas tree. Experience downtown all decorated for the holidays! The tour starts in Public Square and ends in Playhouse Square with a stop in the Arcade.

What To Expect

Public Square

We start in Public Square talking about some general history about Cleveland's famous Department Stores and some unique Cleveland Christmas facts. The Square is lit with about half a million lights! As we move around the Square, we will discuss Higbee's and the May Company and Christmas traditions like the Twigbee Shop and the movie A Christmas Story.

How could I be a tourist in the city I have lived in for more than 20 years. The Cleveland Christmas walking tour happened to be very cool and knowledgeable. I have learned the history of some of downtown's most famous department stores and their many Christmas traditions, interesting facts about Mr. Jingeling and the Sterling-Lindner Christmas tree. I’m glad I experienced downtown all decorated for the holidays this way!

Our group really enjoy this nostalgic tour that put us in front of so many of the places we remember as kids. Dress warm and enjoy the lights and decor of downtown. Going into these places is not possible but Scott paints a pretty good picture with words of what used to be Christmas in Cleveland.
