The Downtown Cleveland Christmas guided walking tour explores the history of some of downtown's most famous department stores and their many Christmas traditions.

Stroll down Euclid Avenue as we discuss Cleveland Christmas delights like Higbee's Twigbee Shop, Halle Bros. Mr. Jingeling and the Sterling-Lindner Christmas tree. Experience downtown all decorated for the holidays! The tour starts in Public Square and ends in Playhouse Square with a stop in the Arcade.

What To Expect

Public Square

We start in Public Square talking about some general history about Cleveland's famous Department Stores and some unique Cleveland Christmas facts. The Square is lit with about half a million lights! As we move around the Square, we will discuss Higbee's and the May Company and Christmas traditions like the Twigbee Shop and the movie A Christmas Story.

This was my second tour with Scott and it was just as enjoyable and informative as the first! We learned about the history of the department stores in Cleveland and the many Christmas traditions those stores had during their heights in the 20th century. What I really enjoyed is that Scott includes photos to show what the buildings you're standing in front of once looked like, too.
