Overview

Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. What To Expect

Amelia Island

The eight flags tour takes you on a historical journey through all of the locations that those flags have flown over the islands incredible history. The only location in America to have had this number of independent flags. You will travel through the historic downtown district and out to the original Fernandina. On our journey we will cover each of the flags, the period from which they flew and the historical significance behind all of those dates from a historical perspective.

We loved how the tour guide Daniel was so informative and pleasant. He had a world of information to share and made the trip very interesting and fun. We would highly recommend this tour if you are interested in knowing a lot about the culture and history of the area.

Daniel was so knowledgeable- the tour was stretched to 2 hours - well worth it- even if you have been to Amelia before and know some of the history

On occasions Daniel will extend the Downtown Area and include a sneak preview of the houses. This is a great tour and one of the most subscribed to on a daily basis. It's always a good idea to check your guide as Daniel is the only person likely to offer this extended tour and we don't want to disappoint!
