• Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your tour time

Important Note:
• Everyone must go through the security check when entering the building
• No glass or bottles are permitted to be taken to the Observatory
• Cameras and camcorders are allowed, but no tripods
• You can ONLY bring carry-on-size bags and backpacks
• There are no rooms to check coats, packages, baggage or suitcases, so please don't bring them to the Observatory

Masks are optional for all guests at the Empire State Building Observatory Experience. For guest comfort, Observatory staff is fully vaccinated and will continue to wear masks.

What To Expect

Empire State Building

A limited number of ticket holders will have the chance to arrive before the building officially opens. Check-in at the information desk and you will be escorted to the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. Get lost in the hues of the sky as the city awakens. Seeing the sunrise from the heart of New York will be an unforgettable moment of your time in New York.

The 10 June 2021 sunrise was extra special, as it was paired with a partial solar eclipse. What an incredible view! While sunrise eclipses won't happen again in NYC for quite some time, I'd certainly suggest considering a sunrise event at the Empire State Building. Since the 86th floor observation deck uses metal railings, rather than glass, it's great for photographers too.

It was an amazing experience. Everyone was professional, friendly and inviting. The visual in the first elevator on the way up was impressive. The Starbucks coffee for the sunrise experience was definitely an added bonus and the guys were super nice. My tip for anyone who visits the top is make sure you take in the view from all around, East and West. I would also suggest that you visit the gallery before leaving...it is worth seeing.

Most memorable: 1) Leaving my house at 2:30am to get to the ESB @ 6:30 2) anticipating the great sunrise that awaited us 3) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:30am 4) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:45am 5) Standing @ the LOCKED observatory door @6:55am 6) meeting Tony the bomb sniffing dog on the sidewalk outside the LOCKED observatory door.
