One of the most fabulous places i have ever been to, Evergaldes had been on my radar ever since i took up an interest in wildlife and nature. This place is an absolute marvel and truly one of a kind, "the floating river of plants, floating jungle" or whatever you wanna call it.
So when me and my wife finally had the chance to visit this place in Jan'18 as we were in town for a few days, i lapped on to it with both hands. The ride from Fort Laurdadale took us about 40 minutes to reach the everglades holiday park that is the gateway to this natures wonder. The park is not a huge establishment, a bunch of docking areas for the boats, a restaurant serving gator bites( be sure to try them) and a sort of open theater setting for the Gator Show performance.
The experience starts with an hour long air boat ride in which an experienced( and funny) guide takes you on a tour of the everglades and tells you about the fancy stuff about the place like tis wildlife, plants, canals and off course the alligators (and how many of them there are and to keep your hands out out of the water if you love them). Its very common to sight a lot gators basking the sun and while your eyes are not busy trying to scout the murky waters for a hidden alligator there is a lot of wildlife to catch vertically too.
Post the ride completion, there is an alligator show which is exciting, nailbiting and thrilling to say the least. The gator show host ( a pretty girl from new york) wowed us all with how efficiently and bravely she was able to maneuver the alligators twice her size inside an enclosed setting filled with 10-12 alligators.
In all, it was an exciting trip and we cherished every moment of it. For the nature lovers like us, its probably one of the best experiences one can ask for however, for others not so accustomed to such kind of setting it may seem to be a put off.
