What To Expect
1
Exit Glacier
This is where your Glacier Hiking Adventure takes place. The hike up the mountain is approximately 1.5 miles, with 1,500 feet of elevation gain - this is the most physically exerting part of the trip. This is the part of the trip that requires the overall rating to be Strenuous. 8-Hour Tour: The 8-hour tour departs at 8:00am and returns at 4:00pm. The whole tour will last about 8 hours in total, with the possibility of spending upwards of 2 to 4 hours on the ice! The "ice-time" all depends on how long the hike up the mountains takes as a group. We do not rush any part of this trip, and the group will move together at a comfortable pace. *The 8-hr tour offers a more relaxed/flexible pace with more rest breaks, if needed.

Kenai Fjords National Park
At the edge of the Kenai Peninsula lies a land where the ice age lingers. Nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, Kenai Fjords’ crowning feature. Wildlife thrives in icy waters and lush forests around this vast expanse of ice. Native Alutiiq relied on these resources to nurture a life entwined with the sea.

This trip was awesome! Traveling to Alaska alone, I wanted to do a group hike. Robin was our guide and I’m so happy she was. She is such a fun spirited and kind person, and it was so great to spend the day with her! The hike itself was beautiful, and walking on the glacier was a fantastic experience! I felt safe and Robin took the proper time to go over safety and how to use the equipment. I recommended the trip to other folks I met later on my trip, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting an adventure!

In order to celebrate Nurse's Week 2020, I reached out to Kyle to book a trip for 5 of our nurses. He was incredibly accommodating, made several trip suggestions, and once a trip was selected, he even offered to take them out himself!! Even though the weather wasn't that great, my staff absolutely loved the trip and Kyle made sure they had the trip of a lifetime!!! Every thing was perfect...right down to the smallest of details... personalized lunch, making sure all equipment fit safely and properly...to ensuring the team had the most incredible photo opportunities!!!! Kenai Backcountry Adventures and Kyle provided an EPIC adventure for my incredibly hard working team of nurses!!! Thank you Kyle!! Heather

Holy crap I hiked up a sheet of ice. Isaac was our guide and he really knows a lot about Alaska, the plants, the wildlife - the guy is an information database. We felt very safe with him, he is very experienced and shared his knowledge freely. The hike to get to the glacier is very strenuous. this is not for the faint of heart. The ice hiking requires some skill and coordination, so once you're on there, please be responsible. If you're in-shape and make good time on the hike, you get to spend all day on the glacier and your guide will thank you. The glacier is magical. Overall, this was a great workout, amazing experience, wonderful guide, and we ate lunch on top of a glacier!
