What To Expect
1
Exit Glacier
This is where your Glacier Hiking Adventure takes place. The hike up the mountain is approximately 1.5 miles, with 1,500 feet of elevation gain - this is the most physically exerting part of the trip. This is the part of the trip that requires the overall rating to be Strenuous. 8-Hour Tour: The 8-hour tour departs at 8:00am and returns at 4:00pm. The whole tour will last about 8 hours in total, with the possibility of spending upwards of 2 to 4 hours on the ice! The "ice-time" all depends on how long the hike up the mountains takes as a group. We do not rush any part of this trip, and the group will move together at a comfortable pace. *The 8-hr tour offers a more relaxed/flexible pace with more rest breaks, if needed.

Kenai Fjords National Park
At the edge of the Kenai Peninsula lies a land where the ice age lingers. Nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, Kenai Fjords’ crowning feature. Wildlife thrives in icy waters and lush forests around this vast expanse of ice. Native Alutiiq relied on these resources to nurture a life entwined with the sea.

It was one of my best experience i ever had. I was alone with the guide (Todd) on the glacier. He was so friendly and we spended a lot of time at the glacier. He reccomend me the pack rafting white water trip and i did that as well. Both trips are recommended. The price was pretty fair.

This was incredible, you earn your journey. And once you are on the ice, you feel like you are in a Jules Verne novel, a real adventurer. Our guides were great. And usually the vegetarian option on these type trips is terrible... this one was actually very good. Loved it.

The highlight of our trip to Alaska was our hike up to and on Exit Glacier with our guide Todd. My husband and I brought our two children, 10 and 12. We were nervous about them being able to manage the hike. Todd was so great with them. He made sure we took our time going up, making it easy for our kids! He was incredibly knowledgeable and well-spoken. My apprehension concerning taking the kids on the glacier disappeared as Todd taught us the way to use our equipment and traverse the glacier safely. My kids kept going with gusto until the very end, when they finally declared they were tired. While we all wanted to stay on the glacier longer, Todd knew exactly how much our bodies could take and planned accordingly. I would HIGHLY recommend this adventure; especially with Todd through Kenai Backcountry Adventures. Our whole family will never forget this experience.
