What To Expect
1
Exit Glacier
This is where your Glacier Hiking Adventure takes place. The hike up the mountain is approximately 1.5 miles, with 1,500 feet of elevation gain - this is the most physically exerting part of the trip. This is the part of the trip that requires the overall rating to be Strenuous. 8-Hour Tour: The 8-hour tour departs at 8:00am and returns at 4:00pm. The whole tour will last about 8 hours in total, with the possibility of spending upwards of 2 to 4 hours on the ice! The "ice-time" all depends on how long the hike up the mountains takes as a group. We do not rush any part of this trip, and the group will move together at a comfortable pace. *The 8-hr tour offers a more relaxed/flexible pace with more rest breaks, if needed.
2
Kenai Fjords National Park
At the edge of the Kenai Peninsula lies a land where the ice age lingers. Nearly 40 glaciers flow from the Harding Icefield, Kenai Fjords’ crowning feature. Wildlife thrives in icy waters and lush forests around this vast expanse of ice. Native Alutiiq relied on these resources to nurture a life entwined with the sea.

As a tourist, you can choose from a number of activities including whitewater rafting, zip-lining, and ATV adventures in most places you visit. Therefore, why not do something specific to the Alaskan region like a glacier hike using crampons, helmet, and trekking poles. Our guide, Todd, was excellent!! His passion and knowledge for what he does was very obvious and made for an amazing experience! While on the glacier, you can see down the crevasses, hear the ice crunch under your feet, watch the water carve pathways through the ice, and see the magnificent blue color of the ice. Definitely a highlight of our 10 day adventure in Alaska!! Highly Recommend Deanna & Chip

All I can say is this is one of the highlights of my life!!! My family and I went to Alaska and booked several day tours, this one being my choice. I love to hike and thought it would be a lot of fun to hike on an actual glacier. Todd was simply the most articulate, patient, engaging, safe and knowledgeable guide whom we had the pleasure of enjoying this spectacular adventure with. The tour exceeded our expectations on a number of levels. The weather was great, the backcountry simply beautiful and Todd's vast knowledge on the terrain added another layer of enjoyment. I HIGHLY recommend this tour- it's challenging but so worth every bit of exertion employed. Request Todd and you won't be disappointed but rather extremely delighted and excited about writing a review like this one after all is said and done!

This is a must. Truly an incredible experience. We went on a 2 weeks trip to Alaska, including land, and cruise, and I Can Say this is the best of all excursions we had. Thanks to Kenai Backcountry Adventures and our wonderful Guide Todd, we had such a great time. He was a wonderful and friendly guy. He was also so patient with us who didn't have any experience of 8 hours hiking. He gave us lots of information about the area and the Glaciers. Walking on the ice didn't seem easy for us at first sight, however; with his thorough instructions and help, it ended up to a fun and excited trip. I highly recommend Kenai Backcountry Adventures.
