Eye-level whale watching onboard our low-to-water small group rafts.

Native Hawaiian owned and voted TripAdvisors Traveler's Choice, Hawaii Ocean Rafting has been Maui’s original ocean rafting experience for more than 30 years. Our small group tours make for a fun, family style experience. Although whales are protected in Hawaii, they often approach our small boats for closer and eye level whale encounters.

Off season (Summer) join us for 2 Hour Dolphin Watching Tours.

We are just a short drive from Kaanapali, Kahana, Napili, Kapalua and other West Maui accommodations. And a fun destination for visitors staying in Kihei or Wailea.

Enjoy small group low-to-water rafting vessels for Maui's best eye-level ocean encounter!

Great whale watching tour with lots of opportunity to closely see whale behavior in their environment. Crew was extremely professional and very informative. We listened to whale singing and experienced at least two close breaching. Followed a mother with her calf and saw him jumping out of the water and splashing his tail multiple times. Interactions between him and mom were heartwarming. Well done!

Third time going with this group. Every trip has been great. We have seen so many whales, very educational and very fun! They are also very caring of their guests during the trip also. Highly recommend!

Going whale watching in March is always a crap shoot - it’s the end of their season so there’s no guarantee you’ll see anything. We came with 3 adults and two kids age 10. Once we found the location and parked in the Cannery mall parking it was a short walk to the covered waiting area. Then another short walk to the harbor. It was a beautiful but hot day to us Alaskans so I was thankful I booked the covered raft. The beginning of the trip was beautiful and our guides were chill and fun. We went to a couple different spots but didn’t see much activity. Kinda seemed like we wouldn’t get much, but all of a sudden we ended up in the middle of about 4 whales doing their best to put on a show! I didn’t even know where to point my phone! We had one whale slapping their fins right by the boat, then three whales on the other side blowing their spouts, then the spinner dolphins showed up! It was one of the most incredible things I’ve seen in my life! Our guides were knowledgeable and respectful and tried their best to maintain distance. We got some incredible videos and memories - could not have asked for a better tour!
