We tried to register for our rafting adventure online, but there was no place to register for just 2 people. Therefore, we had to register for 4, which meant paying for 4 for the two of us. We are two seniors, so we figured this would be our last time rafting. We were fitted with life vests and helmets then rode in a van about 40 minutes to the site where the raft is put in the river. The ride back was shorter. We were given bottled water to take on the raft, and could use a sealed box for a camera or phone. We had a patient guide, Banjo, who was thoughtful and easy to work with. We were on the Upper New River, just a couple of Class I and II rapids. We got a little wet on these for some excitement, but basically this was a float ride. It was a beautiful day, sun shining, and temperature about 80 degrees. The surrounding mountains were beautiful to view. A highlight of the trip was our guide playing his banjo on the way to the put-out site and on the return to the grounds. At the parking lot/office there is a nice bathhouse with flush toilets and a shower. All in all, it was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon. Our event lasted from 3 p.m. to about 6:30.

Nacy, I apologize on behalf of West Virginia Adventures that your experience was not five stars. We advertise our Family Afternoon Express as a gentle float trip, as we take children as young as five years old to seniors who are physically not able to paddle. With the two of you being the only ones on the trip we have to charge for four in order to be able to run the trip. I know that Patrick had a great time with you all on the water in the afternoon and we wish you two all the best!
