Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

Our tour was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable and presented information that was engaging for myself and my middle school daughters. Feels like we had a behind the scenes perspective on the business of slavery and the immense contributions of Blacks to Charleston and America.

It's well-worth taking this tour to learn about the things they don't cover on other tours of the city related to slaves who lived in the city. Often-times this type of history is glossed over because it is difficult to hear and talk about, but Franklin did a great job of bringing out the relevant details as we walked an area that was the epicenter of the slave trade in Charleston. I also learned a lot about the contributions to Charleston and America made by African Americans starting with the period of slavery. Franklin's passion and enthusiasm really makes this a great tour!

We learned so much from Mr. Franklin about the history of Charleston. We’re still talking about what we saw. Thanks so much for the illumination.
