Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

A must do tour. Absolutely worth the money and time on our visit. It was a short and easy walk packed with historical sights and meaningful interpretation. The tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging to listen to. This tour taught things that you wouldn’t find on signs.

Franklin's tour was solidly informative and eye-opening as to what we don't always recognize is right in front of us. On a previous trip to Charleston we had taken another walking tour that left us questioning the accuracy of some of what we were told. Frankly Charleston sets the record straight and vividly reveals the broader historical and cultural story of this complex city. We walked neighborhoods that aren't on other tours. We thought more deeply about how Charleston came to be. We heard the real stories behind the beautiful facades. Highly recommend it!

Franklin gave an excellent overview to this part of history. We could have listened to his stories for much longer and will probably take another one of his tours next time we’re in Charleston. I would recommend this tour before taking one of the usual tours.
