Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

On my recent trip to Charleston and the coastal area I was seeking a tour that told about the things that we do not read in history books or only in its whitewashed version. Franklin gave the history of his people and their contribution to this State and region, their hardship and sacrifices and horrendous treatment but also their spirit of overcoming and fighting for justice until today . Truth is hidden in plain sight in Charleston and until we learn to truly want to learn and listen to each other and address the issues of overt and covert racism still visible everywhere, none of us are free. I walked away from this tour more enlightened on many levels and will share my experience and new knowledge in my world to make America a better place. Thank you Franklin for your message. M.Steimle

M.Steimle Thank you for your kind words. It was our pleasure sharing the other Charleston with you. In our world the light must continuously shine for we have been in the dark far to long.

We absolutely loved the tour. Franklin was very knowledgeable and passionate. He was very upfront about a part of history that others don’t even want to bring up. He was very friendly and forth coming on questions. I would tour with him again when we visit Charleston again.

Franklin was a great guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and very interesting. He knew the dates and provided explanations of significant events and people who made a difference. He knew the black history of Charleston and shared his perspective. For us, it was a learning experience. 5 stars
