Frankly Charleston Morning Walking Tour

Overview
TOUR REFLECT

The truthful acknowledgment of African American contributions to these United States of America since its founding, which is still in limbo or in denial compared to the racism that is wide spread throughout this country for the sake of its southern heritage, in step with keeping it a tradition? Why can’t Americans get with the time?

We break down the other Charleston and the stereo typical mind set of the institution of slavery in this country or shall I say in the Low Country Charles Towne. Were we GULLAH? Or were we AFRICANS? What was the reward for not running? How wealthy were the free People of Color?

Franklin was very informative. His tour was the best one we took in Charleston. He is friendly and knowledgeable. You will learn more on this tour that is memorable than in all the others combined. He also makes suggestions about other places to see that tell the honest and complete story of Charleston, and he gives you a list of resources that are useful in the future. You will also likely meet some great people on the tour with you!

We chose this superlative walking tour of Charleston since we wanted to hear the truth about Charleston, its history, and enslaved people. Franklin's tour was exactly all that! He shared his encyclopedic, non-"sugar coated" knowledge of Charleston history as well as his personal history. This is NOT a "Gone With the Wind" romanticized perspective of Charleston, but an honest perspective of a dark part of our American history. I HIGHLY recommend Franklin's tour and would recommend it to ALL visitors!
