My sisters and I do a "girls" trip every year with New Orleans as our destination for 2014. One of the events planned was the Culinary History and Tasting Tour. We had a small group of seven, which was the perfect size! Our guide, Naif, was very friendly and well versed on the subject of New Orleans and historic background. The tour with "behind the scenes" views were great and things we could not have experienced on our own. The sampling of food at various restaurants was very good and more than we expected. This is a "must do" tour while visiting New Orleans!

My husband and I enjoyed this tour very much. All the tastings were outstanding and we found that we were able to check off our list of NOLA foods that one must try while visiting. We loved visiting the older establishments and getting a tour of these 100 yr old restaurants was an added bonus. The last stop was a demo, where we were able to complete a full circle and revisit all the ingredients of NOLA style cooking. This was a true culinary tour.

A very pleasant afternoon tour of the historic food institutions in the French Quarter with Naif, our guide. I didn't pay close enough attention to the name of the tour before booking it, "Culinary History". A lot more history than food. Small samples of food at each stop. The food at most places was just OK, nothing outstanding so disappointing in that respect. These institutions seem to be relying on their historic reputations, not the present quality of their food. Have taken many food tours, but have never in the past come away from a food tour still hungry. Went out to dinner after the tour. As I said, my fault for not paying more attention to the tour description.
