The New Orleans Classic Drinks Tour offered by New Orleans Culinary History Tours is an over-priced and poorly presented history tour with a couple cocktails along the way. And unfortunately for my husband and me, the Classic Drink Tour included most of the same stops as the French Quarter Tasting Tour that we had already done (and which had a much better guide). To make this over-priced experience even more disappointing, we mistakenly told our guide that we had already done a few other tours while visiting in New Orleans and that was her cue to not bother even giving us most of the historical part of the tour. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING TOUR and a huge waste of money!!! I suggest anyone looking for a good classic drink tour just do a little Internet research on the classic drinks and decide which classic establishment to try. Then just chat with the bartender about the origin and history of the drink. I might suggest the following: 'Pimm's Cup' at Napoleon House, 'Vieux Carre' at The Carousel Bar, 'French 75' at Arnaud's (and get the Souffle Potatoes that are also on this tour), 'Sazerac' at the Sazerac Bar in the Roosevelt Hotel or Antoine's Hermes Bar, 'Hurricane' at Pat O'Brien's, and 'Grasshopper' and/or 'Ramon Gin Fizz' at Tujaque's. (Only three of these drinks are on this tour.) And then take a real tour for the history of this great city.

Our guide was Annette and on our tour were 5 people. Annette had a vast amount of knowledge to share with us about the food and it's origins as well as the history of New Orleans. No question was too small or large for her to answer even if not related to the food we were trying. he made sure everyone could hear the answers. he tasting parts were great and we certain ally needed nothing to eat afterwards. My husband and I took the culinary tour led by Candy. She was friendly and knowledgeable. She was patient with questions and time spent at each restaurant. The food choices reflected the rich food history of the French Quarter. We had everything from gumbo to turtle soup. I would recommend this tour for a full taste of NOLA.
