We visited the museum for the 2 hour walking tour around the Quarter. We really enjoyed the tour, it was an easy walk, our guide was very informative and you can't beat the price - $20! As part of price of the walking tour we also got a complimentary admission to the 1850's House which is a collection of artifacts illustrating the early history of some of New Orleans influential people.

In my opinion, The Friends of the Cabildo tours are the best in New Orleans! This non profit volunteer group supports the mission of Louisiana State Museum and leads tours in the French Quarter, the Treme, the Lower Garden District, and the Irish Channel. Our tour guide Colleen was exceptionally welcoming and very knowledgeable. She is a native of the Irish Channel and was able to give an insight into this area of New Orleans that only a native could. We visited historic homes, churches and the bustling Magazine Street area. Colleen was well versed in neighborhood architectural styles as well as history. Clearly she loves the Irish Channel neighborhood!
