Brian, our tour guide, was fantastic in explaining so many aspects of the French _and Spanish_ history of the city, and touched on more contemporary issues such as the causes and effects of Hurricane Katrina as well. He has a loud voice that reached us all in the audience as we walked through the city, and he was supremely energetic. He stayed after for any questions, and to offer recommendations as well. It was a great introduction to the city and would definitely recommend this tour to a first-time visitor. I was also very happy that the money was going towards a non-profit aimed at conserving portions of the city's history. The tickets to the tour also get you an admission to the 1850 house (where the tour begins), so there's that too.

Just by chance we booked this walking tour of the French Quarter. Our guide, Mac Corbin was lovely. He knew what he was talking about without the typical exaggeration or hyperbole. It was just the proper amount of time and we all felt better able to appreciate the city. Mac even offered to answer any future questions by email if we needed any more information. He walked us back toward our hotel since he was going in our direction and continued pointing out facts and details. Highly recommended.

We visit annually and , more often than not, take the French Quarter tour by The Friends. While there are similarities, each guide brings their own interests and passions about their city along with them, so no two are exactly the same. It's 2-2.5 hours in the Quarter. The groups haven't been too large. The walking isn't strenuous and they usually try and stop in the shade in the summer or sun in the winter, which is appreciated.Don , our guide this year was as good as any we've ever had but I don't believe we've ever had a "bad" one. We always learn something new or relearn something we've forgotten :) and at $15 or $20 the price is hard to beat.
