I would not recommend this tour. The enjoyment of it totally depends on the guide you are assigned. I was on a tour with only 2 other people which I thought would be great. The guide did not take us to many places at all. She had us stand in one location for WAY too long as she LECTURED us on the history of Napoleon and the wars etc etc etc. I was bored to tears and I LOVE history. I REALLY wanted to walk the streets and learn about the homes, families, architecture and stories that would make the French Quarter come alive. I was SO disappointed. I learned much more on the royal carriage ride tour for 30 minutes than I did on this 2 hour walking tour. Save your money and 2 hours of your time and go with a different tour!

Although we feel that all of our guides are the best in the city, we will take your comments under review by our Walking Tour Committee.

We had a 10:30 tour so at 10:15 we walked over to the Friends of the Cabildo 1850 House. We were taking their tour of the French Quarter. We checked in at the front desk and were given our stickers. Then we were directed to go out back to the courtyard where we would meet our guide. Our guide, all are volunteers, was a retired school teacher. She had us walking all over the French Quarter. She also went into great detail on the history of the French Quarter to explain why things were the way they were in the French Quarter. She also encouraged questions. One that made her laugh was a question if the city was purposely leaving the streets in disrepair to make them look authentic? No she said, the streets are that way because of the sinking ground and lack of money to keep fixing them. The 2 hours went by in no time. I learned so much of the history of the French Quarter and how it became the New Orleans we know today. For me it was a great introduction to the French Quarter and New Orleans at the start of our trip. I would recommend this tour to all with an interest in history and the French Quarter.
