From Ma'alaea Harbor, Maui: Molokini Snorkeling Adventure Aboard Calypso

Overview
Explore the natural wonders of Molokini Crater, a volcanic islet 3 miles (4.8 km) off the coast of Maui, on this snorkeling tour from Maalaea. Surrounded by clear tropical waters, this extinct cone is home to many species of marine life, such as fish, sea urchins, sharks, manta rays, and coral. Molokini is a marine preserve, meaning nothing can be disturbed, keeping the island and underwater environment pristine. You'll also explore Turtle Town, and admire native birds. Two water slides, a glass bottom viewing room, and a "leap of faith" are also available if you don't want to snorkel or finish early. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, soda, and juice are included.

Incredible experience! The captain and crew worked very hard to make this a memorable experience and keep everyone safe the entire trip. Their conservation interests went beyond just giving us rules for our snorkeling, they actively looked out for wildlife and reefs while monitoring the people on our large group.

I did a lot of research on the boats that travel to Molokini. I also got to see most of them the morning of our cruise. Calypso is by far the best boat at the marina at Ma'alaea. You will not be sorry. It is really well appointed and there is lots of room on 3 decks. The crew were very helpful, enthusiastic and professional. Our kids really enjoyed the slides on the boat. They serve good food and drinks and the equipment was in very good condition. They take you to Molokini, then to Turtle Town and then on a nice sight seeing tour around the south west side of the island and point out some stars homes etc. If you like boating, it is a great trip. If you do not like boating, I highly suggest you just go the the beach south of Wailea and you can snorkel out to Turtle Town. It's just a reef area off Maluaka Beach that the turtles like to go to for the sea grass, etc. I'm being a spoiler, but that is the truth. You will save 500-700 for 4 people. You will be able to afford dinner! The fish you see at Molokini are the same fish you see around the Turtle Town reefs. It's very close to shore and the water is calm. Plus, there is a lot of debris in the water at Molokini. There are so many boats that pull up and there is pollution for sure. Frankly, there are turtles all over Maui anywhere you see a shore reef that goes down into the water. The videos and photos of Molokini are very impressive, but it is far different when you are actually there. However, it is a natural wonder and is good to see. Make SURE everyone takes dramamine and you can also get wrist pulse bands at Rite Aid or CVS and ginger gum. It is no fun to see all the sick people lying around the boat. Enjoy!
