fond memories of this trip in October 2015, we had a blast!
I had been on a Molokini trip twice before we booked the Calypso. There was 7 of us on this trip, celebrating my husband's 60th birthday. The other two trips had been on smaller boats, very laid back and chilled out. This one was very sterile, tons of people on board. A big scramble for breakfast then lots of people complaining when they ran out of food and not everyone had eaten! When we got to Molokini, I have to say that I felt like I was jumping off the Titanic as she was going down. So, so many souls in the water, bumping into each other, being grabbed etc. My 4 year old grandson was with us, a water baby at heart, but even he found it too much and got out of the water. It was just way too busy. As we were told to only snorkel directly behind the boat, it was incredibly crowded.
I thought we might be able to get a Mai Tai or two to toast my husband's birthday but found out, after the snorkeling, that they did not have an alcohol license. It was stated in the details that the cost of snuba, wet suits, alcohol etc were not included in the price of the trip but not that they didn't have any. The staff were incredibly helpful though, I would just prefer to take the smaller boats again next time. Less stressful. More room to snorkel. Very chilled out! I think that the Calypso is probably too big of a boat for Molokini, but that's just my opinion.
Amazing views of the fish at molokini. Turtle town was the best. We swam with the turtles. Great crew, good food. Very professional. We had a blast.
