Gators up close? A mom Barn Owl swooping by us and then gently perching a few feet away? Two long paddling excursions.... And then gathering kayaks to see the sunset? I haven't tried every company but I really doubt anyone offers anything like Garl. We loved the day! We learned so much, experienced so much, and finished the tour like we had been an actual part of the Everglades. Wow. A wonderful day. Ideal for those who love and respect our natural environment.., An incredible value

We saw Garl on Bill Weir's show on CNN and decided to book a tour since we would be in the area. We visited on May 4, originally to do the full day trip, but due to less than optimal weather, we ended up doing the half-day trip. We were lucky enough to have Garl as our guide and this truly was a one of a kind adventure. I'm not sure I ever imagined myself the type to wade through knee deep water in the Everglades looking for critters of all kinds, but that's exactly what we did! Walking and kayaking, we saw alligators, snakes, a crocodile, and birds all in their natural habitat. Garl offered tons of information on everything imaginable from the history of the park to plant life, animal behavior, weather conditions and just general info on the area around the Florida Keys. Conditions change all the time so according to Garl, you can get a different experience each time you visit. I would definitely recommend this trip and I will definitely plan to go again.

We brought our kids ages 7 & 8 and they LOVED it. Our guide Doug was so knowledgable and nice. We followed in our own car because we weren't sure how long the kids would last. There was a major rain storm as we began (and naturally Mom left the rain gear back at the house!). Our guide checked with us numerous times to make sure we wanted to go on. We just popped into the National Park visitor center and bought some ponchos - perfect. The walk into the cypress dome was really cool and we were educated on the ecosystem, flora and fauna. Seeing the alligator hole was cool too. Disclaimer: We went in April at the end of dry season. I don't know if I would have enjoyed it as much if I had to wade into water where there are alligators. The guides ensure you are safe. My personal favorite part was the stop to see the migratory birds. It was a scene out of National Geographic. Really amazing. The husband and kids favorite was kayaking through the mangroves with the alligators and 1 (vry lrge) crocodile (our guide couldn't contain his excitement as he hadn't seen him in a while). We saw so many we lost count. It was so cool to see them in their natural habitat and to have the guide to explain things and answer questions. You get really close to them but again our guide Doug made sure we were safe. There were lots of fish around too and Doug commented early on that one may jump into a kayak before the day ended. My 8yo was the lucky winner there. It jumped out and and landed on his lap! There is a memory he'll have forever. We didn't do the evening kayak because the kids were tired but it was a great day and I am so glad we chose this tour. I felt like less of an invader thank if we did another type of tour. Plus we really got up close and personal with the gators.
