We booked a last minute trip to the Keys with our 3 kids (13, 10 & 5) and while searching for some activities came across Garl's on TripAdvisor. The reviews were amazing. I called and got us booked while thinking it was a little pricey for the day. It turned out to be an incredible day, the highlight day ("my favorite day") of an epic trip ("Best vacation ever Dad!"). The "hike" was a nice walk, custom planned by Garl, through the Everglades. It was really beautiful, a completely different experience and view of the Glades for me. The Kayak portion was an adventure. Get ready to see a lot of Gators, fish and wildlife. In fact my 10 year old son said he didn't want to go to a "petting zoo" with Gators later in the week because "Dad, I don't want to see them in captivity. I've seen them up close in the wild now!". I can't say enough good things about Garl and this trip.

Great TripAdvisor find for us - 2 middle-aged adults with 2 teenaged girls. Garl took our group (3 small families) on a slog through the Everglades first, where water would be in the rainy season. We were stunned by the beauty of blooming bromeliads hanging from fragrant cypress trees, wild orchids, beautiful song birds, not to mention snakes and Princess, the regal gator who tolerated our presence and photos. WEAR PANTS AND WATER SHOES. After we had a quick lunch break, we began our kayaking tour of Nine Mile Lake and the mangrove trails, seeing many alligators and learning to respect them, but not be afraid. Garl took time pointing out the indigenous plants and animals, talking about their life cycles or nesting behaviors. It was unforgettable. Because of the wind, our salt water kayak wasn't meant to be. But our group agreed that we really wanted to go gator watching at night so we stuck around, taking a break to see where the roseate spoonbills and wood storks nest before moving on to Anhinga Walking Trail where we saw numerous water birds - including Anhingas and herons - and even a fledgling red-shouldered hawk. Here began our count of alligators, including two young ones no longer than a yard stick. As the sun went down, the gators began to move. Garl had supplied us with flashlights and we counted dozens of them over the course of our walk. Thanks for a most memorable day and evening, Garl! And thanks for giving us a ride back to Key Largo and regaling us with wonderful true stories - python wrangler!

We had a great full day, from hiking in the Everglades to spot alligator holes, kayaking in mangroves past a 15 foot croc and an amazing evening kayak on the salt water with the most perfect sunset as our back drop. Garl was great in knowing where to go to get a great taste of what the Everglades had to offer. We even topped off the evening with a glass of wine while kayaking with nurse sharks and manatees. The area and experience was more than we expected. One day is not enough to truly experience the Everglades and Garl can help you see it in an amazing way.
