Garl's Coastal Kayaking - An amazing outfitt that tailored 3 days and 2 nights of kayaking and everglade exploring. Rob Clift did an amazing job getting all of our gators in a row making sure we had the correct food, supplies and equipment. Thanks Rob, you made it so easy for us get what we needed where we needed it when we needed it. Our guide, Garl, was full of amazing knowledge about the everglades and he was a non stop encyclopedia on the flora and fauna. From tromping into alligator holes, Cyprus domes, cowhorned orchids to overnighting on the Tiki, Garl gave us a one of a kind tour through the Florida Everglades from West Lake all the way Flamingo Point. Highly recommended! Garl is the real deal.

Wow, that was one of the coolest things I've done while in Florida. I've been on the fan boat tours and done my own walking along some of the walkways along Alligator alley but this was something totally different. We walked straight in the glades, right off the road in the Everglades park. Straight into the reeds at specific areas where Garl, our guide, knew what to find. The variety of plants, birds, and animals (frogs, turtles, snakes, and gators) was amazing to see; particularly in that we were TOTALLY in their natural environment. Garl has a huge amount of information to pass on as you go along on just about everything you see in there. After a couple of these walks, each with it's own variation, we moved over to the lakes where we had a quick lunch and then an incredible kayak among numerous gators. Going through the channels, they were right there with you. Incredible! We finished the kayaking with a bit of wine and cheese to toast the sunset and take in the surroundings while drifting along. We then packed the kayaks and headed out thinking we were done for the day only to end up a specific park site with extensive boardwalks heading into the glades. It was totally dark now and, while a pleasant evening/place, I was thinking what's the point. Then Garl let us in on a little trick of the trade that made this an amazing part of the tour. Won't give it away but it's a highlight of the day. If you have an adventurous spirit, don't mind a bit of mud on your feet and want to experience something very few others who visit the glades ever do, then Garl's operation is the one to choose. Nothing else that I've seen or heard of comes close. Thanks Garl! P.S. For those like me who are a big fan of snakes, I can say that even when we came across them, it wasn't a big deal. Quite amazing actually and totally safe. Go for it!

Garl's half-day kayaking and hiking tour of the Everglades was fantastic. We saw an amazing diversity of plants and wildlife (orchids, mangroves, alligators, snakes, owls, osprey, storks, kites, spoonbills, pelicans, etc.). We certainly got our money's worth; Garl's "half day" went from 10 am to 6 pm. To anyone considering this trip, I recommend bringing along some food (we didn't stop for lunch). And you might want to leave the small kids at home, unless you think they can handle close encounters with gators and venomous snakes. But for adults and older kids, Garl's Everglades tour is an unforgettable experience.
