Full-Day Napa Valley E-Bike Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of Napa Valley with all five senses on a guided bike tour visiting two local wineries. On the Full-Day Electric Bike Tour, you'll join a small group, hosted by a knowledgeable, local tour guide who will enhance your education of Napa's history, viticulture and wine making.

Electric bikes make this tour fun for anyone who can ride a bike. Casual bikers will find they can confidently ride longer distances and cruise up hills with no problem. And experienced riders who are hoping for more exercise can turn the pedal-assist level down or completely off to get more of a workout.

This tour will include two wine tasting stops (tasting fees not included) and a delicious picnic lunch catered by Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery. The seasonal menu includes sandwich selections such at Parisian-style ham & cheese, turkey & brie and tuna Nicoise. Your lunch selection will be accompanied by Kettle Chips and a petite dessert bite.

Each winery visit will last approx 60 minutes with plenty of time to engage your tasting room host and learn about the wine-making styles and farming practices particular to each vineyard. Roughly translated, Materra means ‘Mother Earth.’ The Cunat Family Vineyards, where Materra wines are grown, combine terroir, hand-selected and planted vines, a cooler climate and the extraordinary talents of a dedicated team to produce wines that are both tempting and complex. Materra wines are grown in the Oak Knoll District of the Napa Valley, a region well known for its deep, rich alluvial soil and excellent microclimates. Specific winery visits are subject to change due to availability. Wine tasting fees are not included in the price of the bike tour (some wineries may be waived with minimum purchase).

My wife and I had three separate tours with NVBT: one in Napa Valley on road bikes; one in Napa Valley on mountain bikes; and one in Sonoma Valley. We liked all of them. The Sonoma ride was the best, in our opinion as it had the least car exposure. The wines, however, we thought, were a bit better in Napa Valley. The guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. They seemed well known and liked by the winery staff. Lunch was delicious.

For the 2nd straight October I made Napa Valley Bike Tours a part of my Wine Tasting Experience. Last year I took one of their wine tasting tours with my wife and when all of those tours were booked for this trip I merely rented bikes and did a self-directed Tour. Although I am used to riding a Trek Madone Series 6, the Specialized hybrids were more than adequate for the generally flat terrain around Yountville and Rutherford. As I expressed some disappointment in being unable to book a guided Wine Tour they went out of their way to make sure that our biking experience was unparalleled. From getting us chilled prefilled water bottles to providing maps with suggestions for wineries and refreshment the Customer Service from Brad and McKenzie was beyond reproach. Brad even went out of his way to secure a "care package" for my return that not only put a smile on my wife's face but ensured that I will return to take advantage of the wonderful experience that only Napa Valley BikeTours can provide to enhance my annual Wine Tasting vacation.

Two girlfriends and I booked the Classic Napa Valley Bike Tour. One friend was a bit hesitant as she isn't the most athletic and hadn't been on a bike in quite awhile. Although the tour was a bit longer than she expected (although accurate to the description on the website) even she had a great time. I personally thought the length of the ride in between the three wineries was not a problem, shortest distance was under 3 miles, longest distance closer to 6. I loved pedaling through wine country, the fantastic scenery, and feeling like I got a bit of a workout in. We did not wear bike clothes, were just in comfortable street clothes as were a few other members of the tour. Stephanie, our guide, was fantastic - great knowledge and just fun to be around. The catered lunch exceed our expectations - gourmet sandwiches, a cheese/fruit plate, nice salad and fresh lemonade. I'd highly recommend this tour and would definitely do it again.
