Full-Day Tour: Concord Waterfall, Chocolate Factory, Rum Distillery, Grand Etang

Overview
This remarkable full-day tour, showing you the very best of Grenada in a day. See St. George's, the prettiest capital town in the Caribbean. Travel up the western coast and visit the picturesque Concord Waterfalls nestled in the lush mountains where you can be refreshed by swimming in the cool water. Visit the fishing town of Gouyave and the spice processing station, where you will see why our island is called the "Isle of Spice" then continue to the Diamond chocolate factory to taste and learn how chocolate is made. Have lunch at an authentic Grenadian restaurant, before heading to the Caribbean's oldest functional water-powered distillery before tasting its potent rum. The tour would not be complete without a visit to Grenada's interior and largest national park, to see the Grand Etang Lake and rainforest.

Although due to Covid we couldn’t go into the Distillery or Nutmeg Station (Chocolate factory was open for tours), Michael was excellent with descriptions of the processes (& we saw the buildings from the car). He was also very engaging with his stories & history, and knowledge of the local plants and produce (stopping to show examples). The included lunch was delicious & great views off the northern tip on the island. We covered a lot of ground, and I found it an enjoyable & informative tour.

I recently had the “full island tour” with Dexter as my driver. As it worked out, I was the only one on the tour. It was a wonderful tour and gave me a much more complete understanding of Grenada. Dexter was absolutely outstanding. Besides being great at describing the history and culture of the areas we drove through and stopped at, he had quite a deep knowledge of the plant life and described many unique plants and trees as we passed by. And just the fine details of history, too—he has clearly gone beyond the call of duty in learning and then relaying so much interesting information! Truly an A+ guide. And a very nice guy as well. Since it was just the two of us, we had numerous interesting conversations during the day. The choices of stops for this full island tour were very good, just right. I particularly thought that lunch at Helena’s in Sauteurs was a beautiful spot to stop, and the food was great. One of the highlights of my visit to Grenada!

Michael lived up to the hype I read about him on other reviews. He is very knowledgable and you can tell he enjoys sharing that knowledge with travelers. Covid had the rum distillery closed down for tours but he drove us through the grounds and we could still see many of the steps of the process. Lunch was delicious at Helena's. Overall we had a great time and would definitely tour with Michael again!
