We thought we should give the train a chance, since we been to the Canyon a couple of times. Buying tickets online is smooth, checking in at the railway station is easy. Everything easy accesible, and they help you if you need that. A little western show outside the railway station before boarding. We had couch class up and first class back again. On the website they are good to tell how fantasic the nature you are going through are....well, it is not that fantastic. You see the same prairie, trees and stones if you go by car a lot of places. The real views are when you get off the train at the Canyon! And serving on first class going home again had way to little to eat, compered to the price you pay. Pluss for the guide in the wagon, the cowboy singer and the bandits that robbed us.... and got caught by the Marshal! If you want to use your day in the Canyon, save some money... go by car.

We took the railway in the Dome car on the way to the canyon and the Luxury Dome on the way back. Both were excellent but having the lounge area to ourselves (no-one else seemed interested) was outstanding - a much better way to travel than by car! The staff and entertainers were great, too. The only way it could have been better was with steam hauling us but the engines are currently in the middle of major rebuilds, so it's diesel for a while longer. Kudos to all!
