We have visited the Grand Canyon many times but this is the 1st time we took the train. A fun ride with entertainment and train robbers. Activities for the children. If you are using the National Parks Pass they will only allow 4 people on the pass into the GC. If you were driving and had a car load ALL would gain admission. If you only want to spend a few hours this is the way to go. All in alll you only have about 3 hours to see some of the sights. Not easy for people who have trouble walking as you have to walk from the train station to Angel Lodge to get the shuttles to different view points. There is NO direct shuttle back to the train station so again you have to hike it back. This is the 1st time we were there when there was snow on the ground.

We read about the train and thought it was a fun way to get to the Canyon. It did not disappoint...in fact, it was better than that! From the moment we arrived at the station, we felt welcomed by the staff in the area. We were in coach A and our attendant was AmberRose. She was funny, charming and very entertaining. She talked to us of the history and interesting tidbits of the area. She also made sure to speak to everyone on her car...so much so that I wanted to hug her once the trip was over...and I did! The entertainment was fun and enjoyable too. The cowboy singers had fun with everyone and the car sang along to the songs. Sheriff was hilarious and the staged train robbery was so fun. We also so a herd of wild horses with one trying to race the train! How fun! Very much enjoyed the entire trip. Even though it was longer than expected, it went by very quickly as they kept the entertainment going. Would highly recommend this as an alternate to taking your car right to the canyon.

We chose to do this pretty much on a whim. We enjoyed the train ride both up and back, but on both legs eventually we got a little bored. They do their best to keep you entertained with live music, coloring books for kids, tour guide/sightseeing stuff, snacks, photo ops, and so on. So the experience is fun, just slow. Taking the train is twice as long as driving, and parking at the park (at least when we went) didn't seem all that crowded. It also limits the amount of time you can spend at the park itself to around 3 hours, which isn't all that long given how much there is you can do. So while I enjoyed this attraction, I would only recommend it to those who are going to be at the park/area for a few days.
