Being senior citizens, we booked one of the dome cars thinking it would be quieter, but we were wrong!!! Going and coming there was a cacophony of noise from excited children. My husband was miserable and took out his hearing aids. Maybe the company could devote one or two cars to adults or senior citizens only? Other than the noise, the seats were comfortable and our car hostess, Christina, was pleasant and helpful. We can’t speak for the snacks as we did not get them. The train goes very slow and it takes 2 hours and 15 minutes each way, but it would have been a nice trip if not for the noise. The entertainment on board was excellent, especially Banjo Billy. Once we got to the GC, we had tickets for the Grand Tour bus, and it was excellent.

We traveled to Williams with our 5 and 7 year old children for their first trip to the Grand Canyon. Our decision to ride the train was perfect, what a fantastic experience. We rode in the Pullman car, which is heated but not air conditioned. This was a fine choice for winter and spring months, but would be quite warm in the summer. The tour guide in our car was phenomenal. She had several of the kids help read trivia questions on the return trip, then she was also awesome with our daughter who was pretty scared by the bandits when they boarded... We only ended up with about 4 hours at the canyon, but it was the perfect length day for the kids. We HIGHLY recommend the Grand Canyon Railway!

We travelled to the Canyon as a family of 5 (three kids age 3, 7 & 9) and we all loved it! We travelled Coach class on the way up (comfortable enough, and it had a/c). On board entertainment was fun and the in-coach host was great. We stayed overnight in Maswik Lodge and then caught the train back the following afternoon, giving us enough time to hike along the rim and get the kids their Junior Ranger badges! We travelled back in Pullman class which was also great. The windows opened so there was a lovely breeze, but this was in April and I guess it would be really hot in the middle of summer. The “train robbery” on the way back was such fun, and the older kids thought it was hilarious (had to persuade the 3-yr-old that they weren’t real cowboys or real guns and then she was fine!)! Overall taking the train was relaxing, stress-free, fun, entertaining, and we felt good not adding another traffic-jamming car to the Grand Canyon traffic.
