We had fun & the staff on the train was very entertaining. The trip takes a little over 2 hours each way & then you have a little under 4 hours left to explore. We opted for the bus tour too as it covered the most scenic overlooks in the least amount of time. We all enjoyed the train trip, but I feel the dome car may be wasted on the terrain we traveled through on the way to the Grand Canyon. While I enjoy open plains & thick forests, I did not need the dome rooftop to view anything other than blue skies. I guess I was expecting some cliffsides or even taller trees, but we passed nothing that required me to look up. While I would take the trip again, I would not pay that added expense of the dome car upgrade

This is a must trip for families a experience you’ll never forget. The train takes you to the Grand Canyon where you stay for about 3.5 hrs. Then brings you back to Williams AZ. or, you can choose to spend the night there at one of the resorts or cabins. Then depending on the length of your stay you travel back on the train. Each train cart has 2 knowledgeable host. We were lucky to have Susan & Sandy, they made us feel like family. While having an adult beverage or soft drink you’ll enjoy the singing Cowboy playing his guitar serenading you with Willie Nelson songs. One of the train carts was made in to a cafe. You can purchase beer/wine/soft drinks/water & different assortments of snacks or pastries. I think the best part of the trip was when the train was robbed by 4 gun toting cowboys 🤠. The train slowed down to almost a stop, you see 4 cowboys on horses with guns pointing at the train. Their faces, bottom half covered by bandannas. The train slowly starts moving when all of a sudden we find out they boarded the train. They come through robbing each passenger. The $ you give them goes towards the upkeep of the train. I highly recommend this experience. BTW, the Railway is very handicapped friendly.

We heard about the train ride from some friends we met at a KOA and we were so happy they told us about it. It gave a little "adventure" to seeing the Grand Canyon. The cowboy show at the start of the day is a perfect way to kill time before the train boards. While on board the "marshall" walks around talking to riders and there is live entertainment. Our car assistant Becky was able to help with our Canyon visit and what to see. After 3+ hours at the South Rim you can get back on the train and nap or wait for the "robbery" which was a super cool experience to see horses riding up along next to the train. The cost is a bit high, which is why I'm not going 5 on this review, but if you asked me if it was worth it I'd say for sure, yes! Plus, Williams has a number of restaurants to eat at when you get back. We took the 10:30am train and we're eating dinner by 7pm.
