I'm the driver when we are overseas, and I had covered many miles on this trip, so it was nice to be able to sit back and relax and let someone else do the driving. Not to mention there was a lot of snow on the road, something we rarely have in Australia, so that was another reason to stay out of the car. We had a very funny host on the PA, and she delivered quite a few zingers. There was food and drink available, with a nice morning tea. Surprisingly, the scenery on the way up was a little boring, just a lot of tundra, but that was a good chance for a read and a snooze. When we got to the Grand Canyon though - wow, as you crest the hill and see it for the first time, it takes your breath away. Stunning. They did a wild west thing on the train, which was nice if a bit naff, but they also had a couple of guys playing guitar to entertain you and they were very good. A really enjoyable day. Efficient and friendly staff

My wife and I have visited the Grand Canyon a few times in the past with our kids but since moving to the Phoenix area last summer, we decided we would try the Grand Canyon Railway out of Williams up to the Canyon. I've gotta say - it was one of our better decisions! We arrived about 30 minutes before the train departed and I wish we had gotten there earlier to explore the trains and experience some of the activities going on. We selected First Class for our ride and were assigned to the Kokopeli car. Jason - our Passenger Service Agent (correct term?) greeted us and helped us on board. Our car was an observation car, but we had chosen to sit below. Next time, I will probably do observation. From the minute we got on board Jason provided AMAZING passenger/customer service. He was friendly, entertaining, funny, engaging and just plain fun to have in our car. He told us what to expect, ran through the mandatory safety instructions and was our bartender and server. This guy was incredible. We have 3 adult kids and both my wife and I have worked in Customer Service industries our entire lives. Jason aced everything. Jason made the train ride worth every penny. We arrived at the Canyon as scheduled, walked around for a couple hours, shopped, had some beers and ice cream then boarded the train back. The entertainment (sheriff, banjo and guitar players, robbers) all added to the fun of the day but my wife and I agreed that Jason was definitely the best part. Overall, it was a very fun and relaxing day for both of us.
