We found Canyon Dave Tours thru the hotel we were staying at. It was kind of a shot in the dark, since the hotel staff couldn't give us any real info on the tour other then it was 4 hours (they offer full day tours as well). Were we ever impressed. Our guide was Richard. He's a local and you could tell right off that he loves what he does. He was a walking encyclopedia of the area. He knew the history of exactly how the Grand Canyon actually became what it is today. We also got a geology lesson sitting right on the rim. We had a chance to walk the rim at different places and had tons of opportunities for pictures. The tour was a small group as well, so we had an almost one on one tour. Truly Amazing!

This was the first trip for my mother and I to the Canyon, and I can't thank Canyon Dave Tours enough for the best experience imaginable. Britton was our guide and the man knows his stuff. He had limitless knowledge about the history of not only the canyon but the surrounding areas, the national forest and especially the geology (which is his expertise). The extra information really made the day so much more fulfilling. I would recommend this tour to anyone!

I called Canyon Dave Tours, Inc.; a family run business, asking questions, what the tour includes, rates, docent (knowledge of the Canyon). Not far into the conversation I was sold. Each person I spoke to took time and respectfully answered all my questions adding more and more information. The tour was booked seamlessly, and the tour guide, Richard Thayer met us at the property in which we were lodging. Richard is an excellent tour guide. Not only is he familiar with every square inch of the Grand Canyon, his knowledge of the rock formation, the layers and the many millions of years in the making gave us an insight and respect to the Canyon we otherwise would have missed. As the tour ended we certainly didnā€™t have enough of this gentleman so we asked him to join our group for dinner. He graciously accepted and the evening was enjoyed with a great deal of laughter and true sentiments of how Canyon Dave Tours and Richard truly should be part of your Grand Canyon experience.
