We were on the fence to go to Grand Canyon West/Skywalk because of the distance from Las Vegas. Since we were going to the Hoover Dam, we decided to go the extra distance and were all happy that we did. The views are breath taking and the Skywalk is phenomenal. We all thought we might chicken out but all made it. Did I say the views are breath taking? You take a bus to three possible stops. Be sure to go to everyone of them. This sightseeing area is done right. My only caution is to watch your step and children. There is little to no barriers at the cliffā€™s edgeā€¦just warning sign. Please heed those signs. I just donā€™t understand parents who allow there pre-teens (and teens) to wander unsupervised. My wife had to leave an area because she couldnā€™t bare to watch. Finally, the gift shop prices are very reasonable. Be sure to shop at the them. PS: Do you see the ā€œeagleā€ in the first picture?

Stick to the National Park. Don't waste your money. We visited Gand Canyon West on the way from Flagstaff to Las Vegas. It's a long way off the main road but we hoped the Skywalk experience would be worth the drive and the price ($365 for a family of 4 including a meal). Sadly, it wasn't. The Skywalk is short, at the end of a very long queue and is covered in a dirty, scratched protective film which ruins the view down through the glass. The views around, of the canyon are, as you'd expect, spectacular. But very the worse thing is (and this is not made clear until you've got to the end of the queue) is that you can't take cameras or any personal belongings out onto the Skywalk (they must be left in a locker in the building). If you want a photograph they you have to join another queue and pay an additional $65 for an official photographer to take your photo. There's no good reason for this other than to extort more money from people. The admission price is already high enough! The meal was fine. Tasty and plentiful.

This was our first time visit to the GC and the scenic vista was as impressive as we were told. We had to park at the main terminal and take a shuttle bus to each of the vantage points (Eagle Point and Guano Point). In my opinion, inless uou just want bragging rights, the famous Skywalk is not worth the extra $. You can get much better pictures at Guano. The shuttle bus comes around ever 10 minutes or so and is quite efficient. Try to come early, just before the park opens at 9 to avoid the crowd. Highly recommended.
