Wow! Marc really covered all of the bases in this two and a half hour tour of Greenwich Village. From actors, poets, politicians and various historical figures who once resided/ made names for themselves in the area, to the oldest theatres and watering holes, to the architectural evolution, and so much more. As a lifelong New Yorker, he knows this city like the back of his hand, and wove many enlightening and humorous personal anecdotes into the narrative. I highly recommend this tour.

Overall we didn’t experience what we were expecting. The tour guide was on time and really nice but we were interested in learning about the history and architecture of West Village and he spent 80% or more of the time talking about personal experiences and old families stories. We weren’t able to finish the tour even we were over time. This is not what was advertised.

Advertised as stories of past residents, local history, Native American history, architecture, and personal anecdotes enliven this tour. Sorry you were disappointed. If you wanted to change the focus of the tour Marc would have accommodated you.

My wife and I choose this tour because of the artistic history of Greenwich Village. Our guide Mark has lived in this neighborhood his entire life birth to gray hair! So after being in NYC 7 days, our feet and legs were already like spaghetti and our Mark kept us at a sustainable comfortable place. I think we covered every square inch of the village and I burned through a camera battery really fast taking pictures of all the historical sites. When we arrived in Washington park it was alive with music, laughter and beauty. This location has been in so many movies including one of my favorites, August Rush. Our guide told us that back in 60’s the city wanted to kill the music, so him and a bunch of his friends protested for weeks to keep the music in the park. He even showed us a picture of the rally with him in the middle of it! Mark is truly a historian of Greenwich, a gentleman, intellectual guide and a community historical celebrity! If this part of NYC interest you, then take this tour! Five stars and roll tide!
