What To Expect

The Gypsy Gold Farm

our first forty five minutes is an educational journey conducted by Dennis Thompson, the discoverer and founder of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed. Dennis and Erin will then introduce you to a Gypsy Vanner stallion and explain the envisioned look and details unique to the Vanner breed. Your second hour is a walk among horse filled paddocks lined with ancient oaks laden with the romantic Spanish moss of the south. On your walk you will meet beautiful stallions and mares and friendly Gypsy Vanner Horse babies. Your Gypsy Gold Farm Tour ends with a picture opportunity with an incredible Gypsy Vanner Horse stallion and a visit to the Gypsy Gold gift shop.

This was an incredible experience. Anyone visiting that part of Florida must add this to the list. I know Ocala is considred horse country but these horses are not just your ordinary horses...

A very phenomenal knowledgeable experience! It’s history and hands on magnificent experience to gain knowledge of these fascinating breed of horses it’s bonuses the donkeys & birds, Gypsy Gold is an awesome family experience but a very nice outing for anyone ! Definitely a must for a peaceful Day!

Dennis offers a highly interesting, often poignant, recount of his journey to import, create a registry of, and improve, the Gypsy Vanner breed. His story is unique, thoughtful, and created to bring awareness to the plight of the Gypsy people, who have been around for centuries, and most always, who have survived as outcasts of the societies they inhabit worldwide. It is a worthwhile tale, and the visit to the paddocks of these amazing creatures was lots of fun. We got an explanation of their breeding program and learned tons of interesting facts along the way.
