Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview

Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

Capt Tommy and his first mate Natalie were Awesome!!! Also, it was really nice to meet a fellow West Virginian (Capt. Tommy). The water was really choppy, which made for lots of us getting sick or as another local called it “feeding the fish”, LOL! I normally take medicine or wear sea bands, however it was early and I thought I would be fine, boy was I wrong! Thankfully I didn’t get sick until the end of second stop, Natalie was super kind and got me several cups of water while I clung to the ladder and collected myself. There were several others that got sick as well…at least 3 or 4 others, which is the most people I’ve ever seen get sick on a trip. I highly recommend that you pre-treat yourself, even if you think you might get sick! The only suggestions I have would be to have snacks, drinks, and some meds on the boat for purchase, I could’ve really used some saltines and a ginger ale or sprite on the ride back. It was pretty miserable to ride all the way back with that horrible taste in my mouth. When we are back in Key Largo we will definitely look for them at Pirates Cove for another trip, hopefully it will be less choppy! We seen lots of pretty tropical fish, a nurse shark, black grouper, and so many barracudas I lost track. On the ride out we seen a pod of dolphins, and on the drive from the first spot to the second spot we see a sea turtle.

We are sorry for your motion sickness. Yes medication the night before and the day of the trip will help to avoid becoming ill at sea. It seems despite that you still enjoyed your trip with us and we do look forward to seeing you all again.

Staff was friendly, fun, and informative. I loved that we went to 2 different places to snorkel. Boat was clean and had everything needed.
