Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

This trip contained a few great but many not so great parts. The staff were great - kind, funny and helpful to the extent that they could help a particular situation. Sadly, that is the only redeeming part of this trip. Passengers number far greater than was stated as max count, seating was absolutely not 6 feet distance between parties, the trip was for both snorkelers and scuba divers, the seas were very difficult causing many to become sick both in and out of the water. . Not a pleasant day for snorkeling but because of scuba divers, the trip remained in place.

Be ready to be packed in like sardines...not even enough seats for everyone to sit during the ride. 39 passengers on board a pontoon like boat...along with 3 crew members. Certainly no social distancing or masks requirements. Crew was more interested in eating lunch than getting gear for customers. Snorkel site was out in open water with 2-3 ft swells...it was rough. Very little diversity in the aquatic life around a sunken ship. The scuba divers were treated as experts and the snorkelers were basically along for the ride. If you take the chance, take some motion sickeness meds...our group was fine but many others werenā€™t.
