Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview

Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

Captain Chris was an excellent captain for our half day snorkel trip on the reefs off of Key Largo. He was knowledgable of the local wild life, reefs, and was a blast. He was very attentive of all the snorkelers and kept his eye out for all of us. I would highly recommend snorkeling with Pirate Cove Watersports.

1st Mate Mike Cutler was fantastic. He shared his knowledge of the area and made sure everyone had fun. I even got sea sick and he was attentive and offered ginger candies.

Loved this tour! We took the half day snorkel tour for my birthday and it was so fun and beautiful. We had perfect weather and clear skies. I requested the Christ of the Abyss site for my birthday, and they tried to accommodate but the current was a bit strong, so they took us to Grecian Rocks. This site was absolutely beautiful! The water was crystal clear and there was so much to see. We saw all kinds of beautiful fish, barracudas, string rays and colorful coral. The water was pretty cold at this time of year, but it did not take away from the amazing tour. The crew was great! They were very knowledgable and friendly, and they answered all our questions. I was especially happy to hear about their conservation efforts! The boat had everything we needed from snorkel gear (which was sterilized to ensure COVID-19 safety regulations), a fresh water shower and small bathroom on board. The crew also made it easy to feel safe and explained the guidelines quickly and clearly. They also sang happy birthday to me :) Overall, it was an incredibly fun experience and I will definitely be back for another snorkel trip soon!
