Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview

Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

We basically ended up with a private tour with our family, which probably made it even better for us. But honestly, I’m not sure how they could have made it better. My 10 year old said it was the best thing he’s ever done.

So I was on a boat every day of my stay (4 days in a row) & this one was the best!!! I happened on Pirates Cove after Sundivers canceled my trip the day before I was scheduled to go (they did refund me, to their credit) & another company was already full, but I would come back & snorkel with Pirates Cove Watersports again! They are laid back & easygoing, but also knowledgeable & helpful. Captain Brad is actually very funny (& I have been hearing 3days of captain & boating jokes prior. He also ensured we had good visibility & good diving conditions around the reefs. He really knows the ins & outs about the reefs & wreck sites & as a bonus, did a "driveby" on the way back to see Christ of the abyss statue that is famous. I saw lots of different fish, sponges, a small shark & stingray. The brave & curious swam through a smack of moon jellies & were able to catch a glimpse of the famous statue because he was kind. Brandon, the first mate was very helpful. Kelly, who led the scuba-ers was also pleasant & answered my question even tho I was not a scuba diver. The ship was a level up, I could tell. They had a nicer dry area for our things than the other boats & they PROVIDED the REEF-SAFE SUNSCREEN!! & they have a fresh water hose/shower right outside where they dock, which was super cool because I was flying out that evening, but did not have to smell like ocean on the plane. It was a great day!!! My photos aren't doing it justice!

Snorkeling tour was a great experience. Super friendly and great staff. Took us to the Christ of the deep and another reef wird great maritime wildlife. This just made it to the highlights of our trip to the keys. Cheers
