Half Day Snorkel Trip on Reefs in the Florida Keys

Overview
Come join us snorkeling some of the most beautiful reefs within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and Pennekamp State Park. We have many possible reefs to explore: Molasses, Elbow, French Reef and the famous Christ of the Abyss on Dry Rocks. These protected areas offer an opportunity to see turtles, spotted eagle rays, moray eels and a variety of different fish. These special reefs are part of the 3rd largest living reef system in the world and the ONLY living coral reef in the US. We stop at two different locations on the reef. Each stop is determined by the captain based on the day's conditions. We cannot guarantee any specific site.

In an effort to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that ends up in our oceans, we recommend bringing a reusable water bottle. We have water coolers in our shop and on our boats for your convenience!

We had a fun snorkeling trip even though the seas were rough. They warned us in advance that we might have to turn back, but the Captain Mike found us two nice spots. Once in the water it was fine. We saw lots of fish and corals. The first mate ā€˜Hā€™ was funny, helpful and informative. Lots of good information on safety and what to expect.

Rough day on the water, but Captain Chris did a great job in finding a spot that was sheltered and got us in the water. So rough out that one of the other boats was heading back in and did not make it out. Great trip and great Job by ā€œHā€ and captain Chris.

Captain John and our "Flight Attendant" Captain Cutler were outstanding, taking us to a shipwreck (The City of Washington) and then Anchor Chain a few hundred yards from the initial spot. They had the perfect balance of using humor to keep us engaged, while providing important and necessary safety information (Important to know the boat name, in this case Sea Star, since there are a number of other boats of the same make/model at the sites; and then the various hand signals for coming closer to the boat, get back on the boat, I'm OK, and I'm in distress) My other experiences with snorkeling have been in Hawaii and then at Discovery Cove in Orlando, both of which had a huge variety and number of things to see compared to the Keys, so while I didn't subtract a star, I would advise people to lower their expectations if you are thinking you're going to see thousands of fish everywhere you look; that's not the case. But still, I saw spotted rays, baracuda, angel fish, and a good number of other fish, and I feel that the value for the money was easily 5/5 worthy. It was also a nice perk that they had reef safe sunscreen on board and cups of water to stay hydrated.
