We had a very disappointing experience with this tour. The weather was extremely poor before and during the tour, to the point where we could not see where we were kayaking due to the amount of rainfall. What is described as a "leisurely paced kayak" was not due to the currents, especially when kayaking across to Hanalei Bay. Both my friend and I felt as though the kayaking portion was rushed and stressful as the conditions were so poor - another couple were actually swept away from the rest of the group due to the waves. The tour should have been cancelled from the beginning, as it was obvious the weather was not going to change throughout the day; we would have been given the option for a refund, or to change our tour date. Very obvious that many of the tour group were not satisfied with the quality of the tour. If the weather had been better, I'm sure the tour would have been enjoyable as the bay itself was beautiful, and guides very friendly.

Aloha Catherine, Sorry that the weather conspired against you both. We are, especially in the summer, in a "dry pattern", but rain is always a possibility. Living on 30 mile wide Kaua'i is like being on a small boat with small storm systems blowing quickly through where we "batten down the hatches" and wait until it passes. One moment it can be sunny the other sopped in and Sometimes a day can begin sunny and the Fates conspire with rain and vice a versa. We try to monitor the weather and when safety is a concern, we do cancel and refund. Re: Waves We do as a rule have to negotiate some waves, even in the summer when the surf is as flat as it get, in order to get to Hideaways for snorkeling. Thanks for warning folks that rain and less than perfect weather can at times conspire. Without rain you could not have rainbow, but also some sun is essential. A hui hou, Micco

My boyfriend and I took this tour together and loved every single moment ! I have never been kayaking or snorkeling before so I was a bit nervous to see how things would turn out but Dave and Steve were there to help every step of the way. The tour was a great length and gave enough time to both kayak and snorkel. The kayaking part was not too hard and having one of the tour guides with you was a plus! The Hanalei Bay was beautiful and snorkeling was awesome. The lunch was filling and the fresh pineapple was even better. There was plenty of time for the guides to tell us about Kauai and also recommend some great food choices in the area. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, even if you are a beginner!

First off, this trip is highly recommended, Lisa was so cool, very informative, and helpful to everyone. This was the highlight of my trip.. We loved everything.. Lisa definitely needs a ATV to haul all the gear down the (what seemed like a mile walk) beach from where we had to park. That cart she had to pull just didn’t seem good at all. She never complained at all, but it was hard work pulling all that weight thru the sand. I would guess she only weighs about 100 pounds, and that cart was probably 200.. This trip takes you to snorkel at hideaways beach, which I think is the best snorkel beach on the island, we seen every kind of fish you can think off.. The sandwiches were amazing, and it was fun kayaking down the river and the ocean, very exciting.. Mahalo! Definitely will do this trip again with Lisa, when I return to beautiful Kauai🤙🏽 Please get Lisa a ATV😁🤙🏽

Aloha Sherry, Thanks for your nice review and getting the word out on our 5 hour Hanalei Blue Lagoon paddle and snorkel. This tour is a gem with great panorama and often some terrific snorkeling. The floods of April has challenged us logistically with the need to cart some of our gear to our staging area by the Hanalei Pier and river mouth; character building to say the least for the guides. Also by default, would agree that Hideaways offers some of the best North Shore snorkeling, especially since April flood road closure to Tunnels/Makua Beach prevents access. Our sandwiches are the "icing on the cake" to a fine tour, and are provided by our caterers at Passions Bakery. I love the veggie sandwich with chipotle. Thanks again for taking the time and letting us know that Lisa...is still giving 100%. Until our wakes or trails cross. A hui hou, Micco
