We had never been to Harlem and figured this was the place to start. We we right! Because it was winter (and cold!) we were the only two on the tour. Our guide, Andy, has lived in Harlem since 1959 and has seen a lot of the history himself: the politics, the architecture, music, society, you name it. He encouraged us to ask questions and Iā€™m not sure how much of the tour was scripted because the conversation was so interesting. Youā€™ll see all the famous places but more than that, youā€™ll get a sense of the place. And at the end there is fantastic food waiting for you at the Red Rooster or Sylviaā€™s. Highly recommended, especially if you want something other than typical NY tourism.

Andy (our super spry) 91 year old tour guide was a wealth of information! We learned so much and had a lovely afternoon with him. Would definitely do another tour if in NYC again. I recommend this company to any type of traveler!

We took an afternoon tour with Niel. He gave an interesting and enthusiastic tour around the main parts of central Harlem. Harlem is very different from peopleā€™s historic perspective and is now a thriving community with great shops and restaurants. Donā€™t waist your time in midtown get up to Harlem and enjoy the stories and history of the area narrated by Neil who was accompanied by Andy a long time resident and proprietor of a local museum.
