I was in Pigeon Forge the weekend of my birthday and decided I wanted to join a group hiking tour. I called “A Walk in the Woods” based on the reviews on TA. When I initially spoke to Vesna , owner, I explained I wanted to take one of their group tours, she said “things were filling up fast” and she’d call me back to let me know if they could fit me in. I thought I’d be joining a group tour since I was solo, but when she called back it turned out that I would be the only person on the tour. Which was great, but the whole line about things filling up fast seemed to be a gimmick to get me to sign up right away. That being said, my “personalized” tour was amazing. I purchased the Half Day hike for the moderate level. Charles was my tour guide and met me at 10a. He explained a few things about the hike. He gave me a walking stick, which I didn’t think I would need but so thankful I had it. Charles took us at a very comfortable pace. He explained things regarding nature and history along the way. We stopped for a snack half way into the tour. The tour lasted about 4 hours and it was worth every penny. It was amazing hiking the Smoky Mountains – highlight of my trip. It was great to be away for the crowds of people on the main drag. Charles was great – thanks for an amazing time!

As an avid hiker who was exploring the Smokys for the first time I was looking for a guide who was knowledgeable about the region. I definitely found what I was looking for with A Walk In the Woods. Mike and Charles were great, friendly guides who knew a lot about the region, which made for 2 days of fun/interesting hiking. When back in the region, I will try to go on one of their overnight backpacking trips. I highly recommend this company, you wont be disappointed.

My boyfriend and I has a blast on our six hour hike on Mt. LeConte with our guide, Michael. We're so glad we decided to do our first hike in the smokies with A Walk In The Woods. The entire trip went flawlessly and we really enjoyed talking to Michael about his experiences as a master backpacker and hiker. We felt like our hike was (at least) twice as fulfilling because we had him there guiding us and giving all kinds of tip and advice. He pointed out things we would've never noticed otherwise. I would highly recommend using A Walk In The Woods (particularly Michael) on all of your future Smoky Mountain Adventures!
